What is LIBOR & how does it work?

What is LIBOR? LIBOR stands for London InterBank Offered Rate. Originally, LIBOR was an indicative average interest rate at which a selection of banks were prepared to lend one another unsecured funds on the London money market. In the past there were 150 LIBOR interest rates: 10 different currencies and 15 maturities per currency.

How many Libor rates are published each day?

Currently, only the overnight, one-, three-, six-, and 12-month USD LIBOR rates and the three-month GBP LIBOR rate are published. The combination of five currencies and seven maturities led to a total of 35 different LIBOR rates calculated and reported each business day.

When will Libor be replaced?

Daily LIBOR interest rate fixings have been published since January 1986. The LIBOR is to be replaced by the end of 2021. Libor: Get the current Libor interest rates, charts and latest news. Daily updated.
